I have always been fascinated by creating!

I'm Marika René, a Swedish artist based in Särö, just south of Gothenburg, and on Gran Canaria, Spain.

My artistic work focuses primarily on Space Art – abstract original paintings in watercolor and acrylic, where color, contrast and intricate details come together to create depth and movement.

I draw inspiration from the fascinating shapes and structures of space, as well as from nature and the environments around me. Inspiration can come from anything, from a star-filled night sky to an unexpected color combination or a small detail that catches my attention.

I work with techniques I have developed myself, allowing each painting to evolve through a combination of planning, experimentation and curiosity. I often incorporate gold, pencil details and transparent layers of color to create contrast and highlight subtle details.

Alongside my Space Art, I also create abstract works in my Punto a Punto series and art inspired by the sea and Sweden's west coast.

I spend part of the year working on Gran Canaria, where the light, colors and surroundings offer fresh perspectives. During the rest of the year, I'm based in Särö, where I also have my own gallery, Studio 928.

At the gallery, you can experience my original paintings up close and discover details that are not always visible in photographs. Visitors are welcome to drop by spontaneously or arrange a private viewing.

And then there's the number 928.

It appears in the name of my gallery and is also hidden in every painting. What it means is a secret I prefer to keep.
